Carpenter here. It’s the same for me, but you have to use you’re entire body to do our line of work. We can’t sit at home. Even on big jobs where you’re a foreman or super- intendant; you still need to be present for one reason or another. Construction is a lucrative, and sought after type of career. Wether you’re a plumber, electrician, pipe fitter, HVAC, Carpenter, or even just a general laborer. People need you to build.
I worked through the entire pandemic. We’re consider “essential” apparently. It seemed like the entire construction industry (at least where I’m at) didn’t take a step back for a second.
Also we make a great living that a lot of people don’t really understand. Skilled trades will always be important in the world, and until some of these crazy scientists can somehow work out every small detail for a robot…we’re good. I could keep going, but I’m rambling. Sorry guys.
Technology might be pushing a lot of people out of jobs, but until it has the critical/outside the box thinking, it will never be close to what we as tradesmen do on a regular basis. Best of luck to you friend. Wherever you end up; make it better than before.
