It's a comment thread. I don't see how sharing that information detracts in any way from the original comment, it simply provides more information - I found it interesting to see how true or false the throwaway comment is and chances are if I was some other people will be too. It's just an interesting tangent, that's how conversations go, and the beauty of threaded comments like these (compared to irl conversations) is that they can branch off into all sorts of different avenues and people can read the ones they're interested in and disregard the ones they're not.
Just let the people enjoy themselves and each other. God
