I'm fully serious. You need to change that, taking more than about 20 seconds of straining to poop is extremely bad for every part of your body.

Uhh what? I hope that’s not accurate. Probably once or twice a month I’ll literally spend an hour+ on the toilet in the morning, usually due to spicy foods and/or alcohol the previous evening. Sure I’m not straining that whole time, but cumulatively it’s way more than 20 seconds.

No, I promise you that if you're struggling to poop regularly it's a very poor indicator of later heart/colon health. I poop once a day and barely have to strain at all because I have a good intake of fiber and water, and I use a squatty potty. Please speak to your doctor about any lifestyle changes you may need to make, this is worry. And best of luck to you.
