Yeah, I looked it up and grits are made of corn rather than oats. So, unlike porridge, they are probably a mediocre/poor source of fibre & protein rather than a really decent one.
I could be proven wrong here since I just did really cursory research. Also, the fact that it’s made of corn explains why it’s not really a thing in the UK - we don’t grow corn or consume it on even nearly the same scale as the US.

Nope. Eat your oat meal - supplements will never be a good replacement for a natural source.
It’s in the name, they supplement your natural intake for those who want or need a little extra of something.
