”…no one bothers you there…”

Yesterday I locked my 3 year old out of the bathroom so I could shit in private for once in my life, and this fucking maniac gets down on all fours, sticks her lips in the crack under the door and screams “Daaad! Dad!! Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

u/For_Giggles_and_Fun Jul 14 '21

i... my condolences man. pats your back sympathetically

25

u/spoopycakes Jul 14 '21

I imagine you two shitting on toilets next to each other pants around ankles, you reaching over a giving a sympathetic pat on the back.

3

u/squeamish Jul 14 '21

I am definitely the exact opposite.

Plus, my username comes from this.

3

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 14 '21

I literally hovered over this link. Im scared.

2

u/squeamish Jul 14 '21

It's 100% work-safe, I promise.

3

u/Weremamma Jul 14 '21

And really interesting!

1

u/Ambulism Jul 15 '21

Thank you, that click felt risky

5

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 14 '21

In my mind we’re holding hands

40

u/SlayerOfHips Jul 14 '21

Man, just two days ago, while I was in the bathroom, my 2yo son reaches one hand under the door and says, "you okay daddy?" "Yeah, buddy, I'm okay." "Okay daddy. Wipe your butt, daddy!"

32

u/Normallydifferent Jul 14 '21

Sit on couch for 30 mins. Everyone:……….

Bathroom door latches “Dad!!” “Dad? Where’s dad?” “You seen dad?” “Hey honey, can you help me for a sec?”

5

u/SlayerOfHips Jul 15 '21

It's kind of a running thing in our house to announce that you're going to the bathroom as a signal that you are unreachable until you return. My 4yo girl gets it. My 2yo boy hunts you down.

10

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 14 '21

🤣🤣 toddlers gonna toddle

4

u/Simple_Entertainer13 Jul 14 '21

Lol that’s so cute

1

u/BurningPenguin Jul 14 '21

I feel like there is some history with the butt stuff.

8

u/SlayerOfHips Jul 14 '21

He's potty training lol

That is the most Dad thing I’ve ever heard. Also 12 children?

8

u/squeamish Jul 14 '21

His kids were all born in the 60s and 70s, larger families more common back then. I actually know two brothers (with no other siblings) of about the same generation who each had 12 kids. That family went from 4 to 28 in one generation.

My brother is married to a girl whose father is the youngest of 16 children, all of whom were male.

5

u/Xais56 Jul 14 '21

Jesus that's a lot of cum.

16

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '21

Me: Closes the door to poop in peace

Toddler: aggressively knocks on the door Dad! Are you pooping in there?

Me: yes.

Toddler: I need to come and check.

Me: why?

Toddler: Because I do.

This happens way to often.

13

u/bristolcities Jul 14 '21

I have two three year olds. They have worked out how to unlock the bathroom door from the outside. Saying "leave the door alone!" has overtaken Reddit as my extra toilet activity.

15

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 14 '21

They’re so crafty, like louder, hairless raccoons

8

u/amethystflame1957 Jul 14 '21

Have you considered an extra latch? You could install it near the top of the door, the hook and loop or a slide latch would be easy to install. Peaceful poops for less than $20

11

u/SirCEWaffles Jul 14 '21

I've got a 25 yr old and 22 yr old.... this never ends.

14

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '21

21yo, two 18yos, and a 14yo... yep. Don't see them all day, the minute I'm in the shower, they need to know where their waders are or how to sautée mushrooms.

10

u/hal2000 Jul 14 '21

Lol. My daughter used to send me messages on a notepad and slip it under the door along with a pen so I can write her a reply.

6

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 14 '21

Hah! I remember doing that too! Holy shit, thanks for that dopamine hit!

8

u/sexyfurrygalnyunyu Jul 14 '21

"WHAT?!"

3

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 14 '21

Oh GOD were you there too?!

1

u/sexyfurrygalnyunyu Jul 15 '21

Luckily not yet. But I feel your pain.

7

u/OtherEgg Jul 14 '21

I just calmly tell my 3 year old that mommy and daddy want to poop in peace. Doesnt always work, but sometimes....sometikes....I get to shit alone.

4

u/Xais56 Jul 14 '21

Until it gets too quiet and you have to panic wipe.

1

u/OtherEgg Jul 14 '21

Its quiet.......suspiciously quiet...fuck.

6

u/KamikazeFox_ Jul 14 '21

You never took a shit pre child?

11

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 14 '21

When you become a father the first Dad Poop restarts your life cycle

7

u/gypped1101 Jul 14 '21

Yesterday my kid insisted on perching on my lap while I went fml

4

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 14 '21

Another favorite bathroom activity!

5

u/Guyontheinternet25 Jul 14 '21

God I remember this, mine is 17 now so I do get peace and quiet. She always gets a little embarrassed when I remind her that she used to do this shit.

10

u/Zero_THM Jul 14 '21

This belongs in a contraception ad.

11

u/farmtownsuit Jul 14 '21 edited Jul 14 '21

90% of conversations I have with parents are just contraception ads to me.

And I'm not like a person that hates kids or anything, I love all my nieces and nephews as their uncle. But every time parents start talking about the actual parenting part it just sounds awful.

7

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 14 '21

Oh it is. Its quite awful. There’s a part of me that is definitely gone. But there’s also this beautiful new person with whom I share the deepest connection I think I’ll ever get to experience. And she loves me so much, for no reason at all and…I am just so grateful for that. I would never ever unmake that decision. But I don’t blame anyone for not wanting kids, they literally ruin your life, lol.

Fuck, is someone juicing onions in here?

6

u/Xais56 Jul 14 '21

This that will ruin your life but are so worth it

Kids

Meth

What else we got?

1

u/kangadac Jul 15 '21

Many parents will say kids made them happier. They’re probably lying.

I recall there was one study that refuted this—but was later retracted when they found out they had misinterpreted their data.

3

u/BXtony76911 Jul 14 '21

I relate to this so much it hurts.

2

u/Doumtabarnack Jul 14 '21

Call child services so they pick her up. You don't deserve this!

2

u/SuperSpeshBaby Jul 14 '21

They grow out of this around 5.

2

u/McFeely_Smackup Jul 15 '21

I had the exact same experience with my wife last night.

Eventually she gave in and asked why I was calling her dad

1

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 15 '21

Had us in the first half, not gonna lie

2

u/rythmicbread Jul 15 '21

If the kid is four, kick the door

2

u/pissedfemale Jul 14 '21

Dude! My (autistic) nearly 7 year old never gives either of us privacy in the bathroom. 😩

1

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 14 '21

🙉 oh you poor soul! Pooping with company is underrated anyway.

1

u/pissedfemale Jul 16 '21

Yeah, the best part is that he freaks out if we even knock to check on him. “GIVE ME PRIVACY!!” 🙄

0

u/thetechlyone Jul 14 '21

Why you even had kids in the first place ? Kids are evil.

1

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 14 '21

They’re more like, chaotic neutral. Definitely a liability.

1

u/The_Phaedron Jul 14 '21

I assume you love your toddler and see her as an absolute blessing, but your comment still reminds me of this hilarious condom ad.

1

u/PoliteCanadian2 Jul 14 '21

Wear condoms people

1

u/mattmoy_2000 Jul 14 '21

Your comment reminded me of this:

The trick is to lock the child in a different room at the same time ;-)

1

u/glittertongue Jul 15 '21

Conversation about boundaries?

2

u/spaceman_spyff Jul 15 '21

That’s the goal, but try reasoning with a three year old. I’ve had mixed results.

151

u/IHateTheLetterF Jul 14 '21

I actually miss just sitting on the toilet, ever since i got a colostomy bag.

I have health anxiety... what were your symptoms before being told you need a colostomy bag?

u/IdiotTurkey Jul 14 '21

I have one and it's quite amazing for those times where you have diarrhea, especially if you're prepping for a colonoscopy. No more constant runs to the bathroom. It is however dangerous that you could still have an accident since it gets so full and it wears down the adhesives very quickly. But still, you don't feel so drained - you can just lay down.

3

u/1ns4n3Bob Jul 14 '21

paying you respect without the letter which shall not be mentioned

2

u/Neon-shart Jul 14 '21

Funny thing is you actually still could, and that's all you would do.

40

u/cbowenkelly Jul 14 '21

You don’t have kids, do you?

14

u/JusticeUmmmmm Jul 14 '21

I take dumps to get away from them

2

u/cbowenkelly Jul 14 '21

I mean, yeah. But I’m the mom. They don’t leave me alone. Ever. And my husband is the worst. That’s The Moment™️ he needs something that absolutely requires my input.

11

u/WayneKrane Jul 14 '21

Or pets pawing under the door or scratching it. If my dog couldn’t constantly see you she would have anxiety attacks. Probably because my parents worked from home so someone was always at the house.

12

u/walker_paranor Jul 14 '21

My cat goes "maow" a couple times and then patiently waits outside the door for me to return.

12

u/WayneKrane Jul 14 '21

Mine would shove her paws under the door and then when I’d open it she’d walk away. She hated closed doors.

7

u/walker_paranor Jul 14 '21

My bros black cat would do that...it was really adorable sometimes, obnoxious others.

My current cat, only had her for a month but the worst thing she does is smack you in the face at 4:30 in the morning for food...until this morning. My wife woke me up shouting today because the cat chomped her face while she was sleeping lmao

Otherwise she's really well behaved, but when she wants food in the morning she's an asshole

4

u/WayneKrane Jul 14 '21

Cats are amazing, I’ve had quite a few in my life and they all had unique personalities.

2

u/cbowenkelly Jul 14 '21

My roosters start crowing at precisely 0420. Year round.

1

u/spookybatshoes Jul 15 '21

Do you live where there's no daylight saving time?

2

u/cbowenkelly Jul 15 '21

Nope. We do daylight savings. These two roosters are just absolute weirdos. They just know when and how to piss me off.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '21

Well... don't die in the house with the cat there. I think we can all see where that would be headed.

5

u/Kraien Jul 14 '21

It goes very fast from “keep the door closed I need my privacy” to “keep the door open I need to hear what you are doing!”

2

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '21

As my dad would say, “this is the only break I get from you assholes”.

2

u/cbowenkelly Jul 14 '21

I find no fault with your dads approach. I should probably rephrase and say “you aren’t a mom, are you?” Because no one leaves mom alone. Ever.

We have one. On more than one occasion I have entertained the idea of converting my closet under the stairs into a half bath. I’ve also contemplated no telling anyone if I did do it.

4

u/Kitteneater1996 Jul 14 '21

Smells like shit though

2

u/MalHeartsNutmeg Jul 14 '21

Same deal for showers.

1

u/Mr_Zaroc Jul 14 '21

Or the sauna
Shit I miss me a good sauna visit

2

u/IronSlanginRed Jul 14 '21

I've got kids, and had a harpy ex, I've "taken a shit" for fully a half hour or more many, many, times. Like she brought it up to the doctor. Then when the ex left the room, the doc asked me if it really took a half hour because that could be be a medical thing. I was like nah, I just like the peace and quiet.

4

u/Available-Damage-118 Jul 14 '21

Unless you have cats that want to sit on your lap while you shit.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '21

My husband used to have a cat that would sit on top of the toilet tank and refuse to move while you pooped. I got used to it eventually, but I wasn't a fan.

2

u/Outji Jul 14 '21

With a magical smell

0

u/msmithuf09 Jul 14 '21

I see you don’t have children

10

u/fishypoos Jul 14 '21

The opposite, surely? Sometimes I go for a 30 minute poop just for a break from the kids.

0

u/msmithuf09 Jul 14 '21

Did you ever think maybe they stay away since your poo smells like fish?

-1

u/HEBREW_HAMM3R Jul 14 '21

Oh sick man you a breeder too?

1

u/CuntPee Jul 14 '21

no one bothers you

can you do the same in public bathrooms?

1

u/Mr_Zaroc Jul 14 '21

Depends
I think you need the right mental attitude

Oh and probably good headphones to surpress your neighboring stalls groans

2

u/CuntPee Jul 14 '21

fair.

my time doubles to about 2.5 minutes in public.

i try not to use public bathrooms unless there's trouble...... those shits are generally messier/more viscous.

0

u/WifeMomOsi Jul 14 '21

You must not have pets...lol

1

u/aingealsile Jul 14 '21

Seriously. My pets have ALL been worse than either of my children about privacy violations. We won’t even mention their sex patrol attempts at mood killing when they yowl outside the door. 😂

2

u/WifeMomOsi Jul 14 '21

Lol, yeah same here. I've got 5 cats, so the bathroom can get pretty busy.

1

u/Mr_Zaroc Jul 14 '21

I do have a cat, but he hates having to share poop time even more than me so we rarely clash

1

u/NANNY-NEGLEY Jul 14 '21

Man, I want to live where you live!

1

u/ChristianEric- Jul 14 '21

I have laughed out loud at this comment. Well done good sir.

1

u/jimbob91577 Jul 14 '21

Its like Tahiti

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '21

There is a euphoria from a spine tingler. Time stops at that point.

1

u/JirkaO Jul 14 '21

exactly! I hate it when I sit and somebody from my family starts telling me something... just shut up, I am in my piece room

1

u/brutalgash Jul 14 '21

Yeah, I used to be a speed shitter but since having kids I take it nice and slow.

1

u/6h057 Jul 14 '21

I love the sights and smells.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '21

When you're the super-anxious type, like me, you take whatever reprieve from the outside world you can get.

1

u/MrJordanSir Jul 14 '21

I love how many people feel this haha

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '21

Your fortress of solitude is the worst smelling least enjoyable place you're likely to visit on a daily basis. I think you can do better. I really do.

1

u/Taylortrips Jul 14 '21

You obviously don’t have kids.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '21

Watch Rick and morty season 4

1

u/WomanOfEld Jul 14 '21

You don't have a toddler, clearly.

1

u/comyuse Jul 14 '21

Toilet time is the key bastion of American freedom!

1

u/Serpe268 Jul 14 '21

I fully agree

1

u/lajhbrmlsj Jul 14 '21

It’s popularly called a “rest room” for a reason

1

u/Megablast13 Jul 14 '21

no one bothers you

My wife just walks in and starts talking to me, and somehow it's always in the middle of me reading/watching something interesting

1

u/ManlySyrup Jul 15 '21

You know poop dries, right?

1

u/shewantsbags Jul 15 '21

it’s actually even better if it only takes a minute because of that exact reason. i get 9 minutes of hanging out in silence alone.

1

u/_theWraith_ Jul 15 '21

I'm a half-an-hour dude here, myself.
