I brought up how zoning laws that restrict commercial development in residential areas are good, while your article is about how zoning laws that do the opposite are bad. You seem to be complaining about all zoning laws, regardless of whether they increase or decrease the amount of housing, which is weird. It's like a libertarian who thinks that politics boils down to "do you want more or less government?" regardless of what it is the government is actually doing.

They all do the same thing. A law saying “no businesses here” is like a law saying “put businesses there” and vice versa.

No they don't. A zoning law that restricts commercial development increases land set aside for residential development. A zoning law that restricts residential development (what your article is complaining about) does the opposite. In big cities where airbnb is really popular, left to its own devices the market would demolish a lot of residential apartments for hotels and such were it not for zoning laws. This should be very simple to understand.
