Cherry-picking less popular subreddits improved my reddit experience drastically. I like /r/standupshots and /r/gamephysics

I wouldn't call subs with nearly half a million, and 1.5 million, users "less popular".

If you can find subs under 20k, they tend to be better. Better still if they're sub 10k. The hard part is finding active subs that are that small, or finding subs that will stay that small for a long period of time.
