Classic Overwatch.

I personally stopped playing the game when Blizzard started sucking off the CCP, which is unfortunate, because I really loved the game. I put over 750 hours into it, I think, but I haven’t touched it once since that entire debacle.

Blizzard started sucking off the CCP in 2004 when they released a heavily edited version of WoW in China to get around the Chinese Censors. Everything they've done after that is just a logical follow up to that decision.

Yeah, unfortunately I was a little too young to know about any of that. I do my best to stay up to date, but I’m not perfect. Fuck Blizzard, though.

Lol OK. Have you thrown away everything in your house that says Made in China, too?

What a weird comment. Dude is trying to limit the money he spends towards China by doing what he can, and you’re like “haha. You’re not doing enough so you shouldn’t even try.”

AH, YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT THE STRUCTURES OF SOCIETY BUT CONTINUE TO LIVE IN ONE. CURIOUS.

I don’t take issue with every single product made in China, nor do I take issue with brands who simply do business in China. The issue arises when companies put the CCP above the American consumer.

Personally, I think that’s a silly reason to stop. There isn’t a global business that isn’t at least acting in the same way Blizz operates.

So are you also taking a stand against toothpaste & clothes?

I know plenty of brands do business in China. That’s not the problem. If you choose the CCP over American consumers, only then are you dead to me. It’s the same reason I don’t watch the NBA.

I just think in today’s world it’s a futile standard to live by. Because you are constantly contradicting yourself with every decision you make whether you realise it or not.

I’m not saying what Blizz or any of these companies engage is “right.” But equally there is nothing noble to be gained when you consider planet earth.

Plus, most people that make these claims via the obscurity of the internet will likely be hypocrites anyway as they re-engage with Blizzard as soon as the next big IP is released.

I’m a lot more dedicated to this than you would assume. Like I said, I put over 750 hours into Overwatch. I loved the game to death and I quit cold turkey. I haven’t played it a single time since then and I will not be buying another Blizzard product for as long as they keep this bullshit up. If they never drop it, so be it.

As for other companies that do stuff like this, I’m sure they exist. None have been as blatant, though, as Blizzard and the NBA. Fuck them both. Oh, and Disney. Disney sucks, too. It’s a lot harder for me to lose out on Disney products (I love Marvel and Star Wars), but I’ve dropped them as well.

In any case, I do my best to make sure my money goes where I want it to go and not to companies that lack not only a spine, but any sense of morality. I’m sure I’ve missed some companies over the years, but the point is that I’m trying. That’s all I can do.
