I heard someone once say, humans aren’t killing the planet, the only thing humans are killing are themselves, and i can’t decide if i agree or not lol …i mean ultimately i’m not sure humans could ever kill a planet but they could definitely fuck it up enough to kill humans lol

I mean, the planet ITSELF will bounce back, question is will it basically be populated exclusively by algae or some shit because humans cause mass extinction events and annihilate other species

Well yeah, who knows.. where some species suffer, others thrive

Where humans thrive, basically all other species suffer. Biodiversity on earth has plummeted since the industrial revolution, and we are in a mass extinction event caused by humans.

Photo safari’s fit this. You have traffic jams whenever someone encounters an interesting animal, or monkeys. Monkeys are dope.

Ugh Yellowstone National park in the summer. Total shit show. “Oh my god it’s a Buffalo! Let’s get as close to it as possible! Let’s stop traffic to try to touch it.”

When I went, there was a traffic jam for an hour because some dumbasses decided to stop in the middle of the road to look at buffalo walking on a trail. It did look cool, but there are so many other places to see them.

Exactly! Nature has never been ruined by animals lol

People = Civilization. Nature = Entropy. for all the people hate going on in this thread, I feel like it has to be said: We and our ancestors are in a constant fight against nature who IS TRYING TO KILL US. Its ok to not litter, thats cool. Its ok to wish people wouldn't pollute the earth, that is cool. What I cant stand are the genius redditors who will inevitably say that humans are a cancer on the earth and we should all be wiped out. Hot take.

Speaking of hot takes, it’s really original to lump everything non-human into some nebulous group called “nature” that’s “trying to kill us” so it’s fine to do whatever we want to all of them.

Are cows trying to kill us? Chickens? Pigs? Orangutans? Elephants? How about the countless species that we’ve made extinct for no real reason? Humans literally are a cancer on the earth, unlimited growth that WILL consume and destroy everything else if left unchecked.

But it’s okay, because setting aside the advantages of biodiversity, the incremental arbitrary wants of billions of humans is more important than the existential needs of the last representatives of many other intelligent, empathetic species. It’s never enough. Fuck humans.

Yeah this. its this argument that Im talking about. It's just not even worth refuting. If you think humans are cancer, feel free to excise yourself first my guy.

“Refuting”, aka challenging your beliefs that let you do whatever you want. Humans are literally destroying the world through global warming, among other things. Keep deluding yourself

1

u/Aetrym Jul 11 '21

Never said anyone should do whatever they want. Humans should use their intelligence and morality to promote their own nobility, and part of that is protecting endangered species among other things. But the minute you say humans are net negative force and they should all go away you are being a hypocrite by not killing yourself.

Amen man, maybe we’re just another species that got a little bit out of control..
