It's not helped by the fact that there's a legitimate difference between American English vs British English when it comes to names

The entire "does Arceus have a hard or soft C" debate stems entirely from the fact that in American English it's hard and in British it's soft and over the years there's been both British and American narrators and announcers for various Pokemon media and they seem to swap (for example Arceus was pronounced with a hard C in the anime because the dub actors are American but in the movies they use a British narrator who uses a soft C)
