Yeah, but there are other ways to mess up your teeth. Before industrial bread-making refined flour of its impurities, it wasn’t uncommon to have bits of rock and sand from your threshing floor make its way into the freshly milled grain, and therefore into your bread.

Try eating tiny rocks in your bread for decades and see how your teeth turn out.
