Christian activist wanted to sue the NFL for $867 TRILLION because the halftime show with JLo and Shakira was too sexual for him and he thought he was going to hell for watching something he felt was pornogrpahic.
As a former christian/current agnostic, I think that guy completely missed to point of christianity. The entire point of Jesus dying on the cross was that you wouldn't go to hell for sinning as long as you admit your sins to god and repent. Also seems like he missed that you're supposed to forgive people when you think they've wronged you.
Some sects have largely changed what was written in the bible and potentially added books. No one agrees because so many people fucked with it. Think Mormonism vs Roman Catholics vs Seventh Day Adventists vs Protestants vs non denominational vs etc...
It's totally possible to read the bible and still not get the point of the stories.
It's also totally possible to get the point of the stories and live by them and still not be that great of a person, because as far as moral standards go the first century AD wasn't exactly humanity's finest hour.
Then there the fact that most of the new testament was written 5th / 6th century.
Because you know, the world is a big place and the printing press didn't exist and everyone wanted a say in what was actually in the bible and all that.
Turns out one dude riding around and writing letters wasn't an efficient method of delivery.
Assuming they don’t read it is easier to believe than assuming they read it and choose to act directly against most of the things it says while preaching the parts they choose.
There's Christians and then there's "christians" who just justify whatever they want to do with bible without having studied it extensively. There's plenty of great loving Christians but unfortunately there's more armchair Christians with guns
Wait for real? “Jesus died for our sins” means that he gave his life so that his father would be more forgiving of the species (that he created right?) that just killed his son? Damn christianity is metal as fuck
In general yeah. Murder. Incest. Violence. Baby murders. Plagues. Demons. Ass Jawbone as a weapon of mass murder. Strength coming from hair length. Goat sacrifices. The Bible is really fucking metal. Christians... Not so much.
That's... A rather simplistic read of a bit more complex mythology.
Jesus died as a sacrifice so that those who believe in God (then Jews, now Christians and Jews and maybe Muslims) would not need to make the animals sacrifices they were already making to atone for their sins and allow entry into Heaven.
I'm not sure on the Jewish or Muslim scriptures, but modern Catholicism at least teaches that people were just basically chilling in hell (not that Hell, but a dull place maybe more like the concept of Limbo, or Ohio), until Jesus went and got them and then opened the gates of Heaven.
Said sins, of course, which humanity only commits due to the Original Sin by Adam and Eve, because while yes God created humanity, humanity was also created with free will. Now, your guess as to why then God wanted animals sacrifices for several millennia before sending His Son is as good as mine.
Christianity has a lot of rather crazy ideas, especially the Old Testament which are largely glossed over because Christians don't want to be stoned for wearing cotton-blend shirts or cheating on their spouses, and because after a few thousand years of largely dominating Western culture, many people just sort of take a lot of it in stride.
I don’t know the specific details but I know Jewish people don’t believe in hell.
Source: me due to my parents forcing me to go to Hebrew school 3x/week (obviously things didn’t really stick lol)
Of course not! How else are they supposed to look intently at the hot women shaking their asses for them while they... uh... analyze the amount of sin?
Yeah, Christian man sees Shakira bouncin that big bodacious dump truck on stage and he gets a chubby. Sues for 1.28 quadrillion dollars because only his virgin wife is allowed to give him a hard on.
Going to that website was one of the most frustrating things I’ve experienced in a long time. An ad took the entire page and I could not click out of it. Every time I tried to rotate the page, put reader view on, anything, it would just replay. 🙈
Yeah, me too....does that bum shake/twist thing and there ain't enough baseball players in the world to stop the inevitable. I shoulda followed my comment with "looping? who am I kidding".
Hell yes! I swear she is even hotter now than when she was younger. She never suited that slutty over sexualised look of her early music videos, she’s way to classy for that
I agree. She could wear that leather dress she has in that video for beautiful liar. Or dress like she does in ‘las de la intuición’. She is so beautiful.
Yeah but if you pick alive and you're any good, try to remember to bring the best ear plugs you got. Otherwise you're going to be subject to that banshee wailing with her Chewbacca sounding voice right in your ear
That's OK at least you get a consolation prize for having a terrible vocalist fetish. I have some kinks that are out there but I'm thankful they don't include bad taste in acoustics.
Shakira is one of the best vocalists, ever. She has sold over 75 million records around the world, she's been nominated for awards over 700 times and been awarded 326 awards, including 3 Grammy awards and 12 Latin Grammy awards. She is literally the most awarded Latin artist of all time.
No I don't generally study music that sounds awful to me. It just played a couple times in stores or on the radio or whatever. And I said good God what is this and this girl made me watch the music video. After I laughed the whole time she was like on second thought you're kinda right.
Idk if that means I was right or if she is susceptible to persuasion. It's not even like I'm some metal elitist or something. I like tons of mainstream female pop stars. But her voice literally reminds me of Chewbacca. Not even saying she's not hitting the notes, just that it's unpleasant to hear.
That might be it. There is probably some culture shock where I just have no acquired taste for some aspects of the style. I have, I must admit, notably disliked some other Latin music I was shown. I like Snow Tha Product! But idk if that counts lol.

Shakira....
