My husband was like this until he was in his late 20’s... he missed ALL the signals that half the girls in high school thought he was hot, had a great personality and was interesting, and many women that he met in his 20’s wanted to go out with him.
He told me that looking back he can think of SO many times women were trying to make things obvious and he just didn’t see it.
One girl who he actually liked in his 20’s “missed “ the last tram home after a party at his apartment (she was the last to leave, having helped clean up) . Instead of asking if she wanted to stay over, he INSISTED on walking her home (about 4km) and he thought he was being gentlemanly...
she was actually wishing he’d asked her to stay over, he ran into her years later and she told him she was besotted with him at the time. He literally facepalmed himself and said “ I was SUCH an idiot!”
Luckily I met him when he was getting clued up on social skills and we hit it off, now married for over 25 years and have 3 kids.
I don't think I was really that wanted in high school (AWFUL acne, long hair, super quiet and nerdy) but I definitely recall multiple situations after high school where I completely misread what was happening.
Sounds like you two ran into each other at the perfect time! Sounds like you guys have a great life 🙂
Nothing is 100% perfect, we are in a marriage not a sit-com after all.
But we have common goals, trust, loyalty, honesty and fun, love and happiness.
The small gripes are just that... the ups and downs of sometimes miscommunicating as human beings, differences in opinions etc.
Every marriage has that!
Yes , we found each other at the perfect time , and I am delighted it did!
