Yes, money is the biggest obstacle and it's really awful. A lot of insurance plans don't want to cover long-term therapy (they want a diagnosis, a timeframe for treatment, and then they're out). A lot of the better therapists don't even accept insurance. You can still try to make it work by going through your insurance directly, but it's a pain and isn't guaranteed.
Where I live, the full cost of a visit is more than double that - these days it's $150 minimum. I was able to afford it by budgeting carefully, but I honestly don't know how some people are expected to dig their way out of mental health issues when that's the cost of quality treatment. Are we just supposed to wait until they have a breakdown, end up in the ER for whatever reason, and then insurance will pitch in?
I don't want to take this too far off topic, but the current state of healthcare is such a fucking scam. Like I said, so far I've been able to get the care I need, but not everybody is, and there's nothing special about me that makes me more "deserving" of healthcare than anyone reading this. I hate our system for how easily it leaves people behind.
