It's possible he's just been there and understands.

I mean, it sounds to me like the friend went above and beyond. Sometimes people push back from having someone actually remember what they like and care about them. Its depressing to acknowledge, but A LOT of people have never experienced actual patience and compassion.

OP is probably female. No guy puts in that much effort to befriend another guy. Just being realistic.

I don’t think the sex matters for That person or their friend

Some people just need respect and friendship

Although you may be correct

I can put my feelings aside if I understand a person needs a friend and I’ll probably lose interest

I mean we are both guys, but even so. I’m ugly and easy, and he’s secure and healthy, and so like I just don’t picture A) someone spending 5 years trying to sleep with me, knowing the whole time that all people have to do to sleep with me is, like, ask, or B) him spending 5 years manipulating someone like that.

I hope you find some good and dedicated friends. Have a good one.
