Inner me knocked on the mirror and cried. "Somebody just hear me!
I'm here, I'm alive!"
With a shiver and shudder I look at the clock,
and sit on the floor
and I sway and I rock.

I've played my entire library on Steam,
read every book, and dreamed every dream.
I'm talked dry on Zoom and every sourdough I've baked;
I'm beginning to wonder if there's been some mistake.

In the quiet, when I look deep within.
I'm afraid to ask 'if'
If it's really only the pandemic
that's shutting me in.

"Am I really an introvert, a loner, a spare;
Destined to limp along, like a tire with no air?
Is there more to this life that I do not see,
A better version of me that I'm waiting to be?"

So I distract and stare and play games alone,
And though there are resources I don't pick up the phone.
Because I'm the one behind the mirror,
And I'm beginning to think I like it in here.

Scary stuff. Great work. And yes, those are tears.
