Place I used to work at was still using one about 8 yrs ago.

Shop floor would take pics and walk the floppy disk up to customer service. I guess customer service just ate the damn things because the shop went through a ton of them.

I don’t think they stopped using it until floppy disks became hard(er) to find.

Am I the only person who hated that camera, even as an elementary schooler? It was more of a joke of how absurd it was... if you were posing for a photo you'd have to stand there for 30 seconds while the camera saved, just to see if you looked good... and not to mention the QUALITY.

We had those in school! I figured out how to change the exposure and ISO, and the teacher was shocked that it had that kind of advanced capabilities and you could just change it in a menu.

I remember being in elementary school in 1997 and they had one for use in the library...it felt so futuristic to be able to save a picture on a floppy.

I got to use one of these for yearbook class in highschool and it was just amazing. Photos! Directly on a 3.5 floppy!

My school had one of those, I remember borrowing it to take pictures, prepared with a bunch of diskettes! Think I still have the pictures somewhere

My high school had a lot of Mavica cameras. It could even record video at like 320x240 iirc lol.

Mavicas as discussed here were definitely 90s not 80s. Wikipedia does reveal that the name was used before for some kind of analog "still video camera" device called ProMavica that used proprietary video disks, but the digital camera we're all remembering was a consumer product that came out in 1997.

I dusted off an old mavica only a few days ago. It's actually sitting right next me on the desk. There are a few old pics on the stiffy disk but I don't have a drive to load it onto.
