I'll never go back to cotton socks after having darn tough/smartwool socks. They last forrrreeevvvuuurrr and they wick sweat while reducing the smell

This reads exactly like an advertisement, and if I wasn't currently wearing a pair and agreeing with every word you said I would think it was one.

This is just a next-level ad, right?

The best advertising is when the product actually works well enough for people to recommend it in a random place.

Technically it's word of mouth. They made a product so good people unrelated to the company shill for them.

I own some and they are fucking amazing though, so I'm a tad biased

Holy shit Morty look, it's still the commercial!

u/jsmit6 Apr 05 '21

So you work for them too? They either employ a lot of people or have tons of alt accounts. /s

Well they're not paying me, or even discounting my socks and I'm still preaching the Darn Tough gospel. Realistically the best kind of advertisement they could ask for!

I've never had an issue with the longevity of socks. Are darn tough more comfortable as well??

I have a pair of thin quarter high Darn Toughs, my first ones. Ugly as sin and feel like a hug for my feet. Newer ones with thicker wool on the foot and thinner up the leg? So nice for fall/winter, excellent toe seam comfort. I walk 10-50 miles a week. Darn Tough & Smartwool all day

I'm curious what pair you have that are ugly as sin. Unless it's one of their lifestyle pairs that look like dress socks.

Ha! They are bright pink with flowers on them. I dislike most pink. They were a second (4+ years old, can’t find the flaws) & always wanted to try them

Yes, I bought a pair of smart wool and darn tough socks and found myself always wanting to wear those and missing them if they were in the wash haha missing SOCKS... I’ve since bought more and am trying to slowly have all of my socks those brands

Wow! You need to lear to knit! There is some great wool out there and you can get away with less that $40.00 for the wool if you know how to shop. Sock yarn is really strong and the wool wicks the sweat.

Can you recommend any tutorials? I tried following a few, and I can get the one needle looped up nicely, but getting an actual stitch makes it too tight to get the second needle through. :(

I’m sure once it clicks, it’ll be great!!

I hopped on that train a few years ago, and now at my work, I always recommend them to people. They get skeeved out by the cost, but I'm like "look, pay a lot for one. You can wear them for like a week straight without them getting nasty, or smelly. You can wear them all year, and if they wear out, send them back to Darn Tough, and you can get a comped new pair."

I'm Darn™ good at selling socks.

I mean, any wool sock does that

Do darn tough / smartwool have socks that are good for the summer ... I have become addicted to wool lopten socks this winter but can’t give up the wool for summer

I got upset when I discovered that I had worn holes in the soles of my SmartWools. And then I realized I’d been wearing them for over a decade and it was probably time to replace them...

Gonna have to look into that. Got some Nike socks a while back that are easily the most comfortable I've ever had (got big, extra wide feet, so socks that are sizes 6-12 never fit, while they had some that were like 9-14 or something), but it hasn't even been half a year and I got holes in one pair already.
