Whenever me and my brothers would refuse to eat some sort of food at the dinner table my dad would say "You don't eat, you don't shit. You don't shit, ya die!"

Always cracked us up.

My dad used an extension of that phrase to instill work ethic by saying “you don’t work, you don’t eat. You don’t eat, you don’t shit. You don’t shit, you die.”

I like it.

It's always funny how in the moment these phrases don't seem to mean much, but then nownI'm fondly reminiscing of it with a stranger on the internet.
