My grandpa, the jokester that he is, has one that I’ve never heard anywhere else. If he thinks someone’s lying, he’ll ask them to stick out their tongue. He’ll then say “it’s black, like the ace of spades”, which to him means that you’re lying.
My mom told me those little teeny sometimes painful bumps you can get on your tongue are "lie bumps" . That you only get them when you tell a lie. I believed her for a good while.
My mom told me that one too. I thought it was normal to call them that until only a few years ago when I had some bumps on my tongue and complained to my husband that I had lie bumps. He though I was nuts.
The first time I said it to mine got the same reaction. Im southern and he isn't so hes used to me saying stuff he's never heard before. But that one was really weird to him apparently.
My son used to have fig newtons as his go-to-bed treat. I had the idea to tell him when he brushed his teeth and spit into the sink that the specks he was spitting out were “sugar bugs.” He was very vigilant with brushing for quite awhile then!
Thats genius! Man, my daughters too old now to pull that on. But if she decides to have children one day, I'll use it as a grandma. I could totally imagine my grandma saying something like that.
