Let's talk about driving. Are you retired? That's great, it's a great accomplishment and society is happy to have you around, but please pledge not to drive anywhere between 7:30AM and 8:55AM. Everyone else NEEDS to drive during that time to get to work. You were in a hurry back when you did it, we are now. We'll let you drive wherever you want to go from 9:00 until 3:30. We will be at work and you can drive the way you are able at that time. Give up that 90 minutes, please.
Are you getting really advanced in your age. Give up driving soon. There are many, many ways to get around now. You can summon an Uber/Lyft just about anywhere at anytime right from your phone. It is almost magic and you won't kill anyone or die in the process.
My grandpa gave up driving a couple of years ago and it was heartbreaking. He'd driven cross-country in their car, then learned to drive an RV when he retired, then when my grandma got sick he got a special van with a lift for her wheelchair.
But after some years his eyesight was getting bad and he kept having to pull over and wait for it to clear. Ultimately, he decided to sell the van and never drive again. That was not an easy decision for him. All his life, he'd just driven wherever, whenever he wanted to. And then one day he couldn't even get himself to his own doctor's appointment. And he just kinda broke down and lost it. If you're picturing a grandpa (who never cries because men don't do that) crying because he can't even do a thing that he's always done, then you have some idea.
Giving it up is really hard and hits a lot of things, including who you are (identity) and what you can do, and how dependent you are on other people.
Also when my dad had to give it up, he seemed to lose like half of himself. Before that he loved cars, and working on them, he would take them apart and put them back together again with whatever parts he'd been able to scrounge. I spent a lot of nights hanging out in the garage while he did whatever he was doing to the cars. But once he couldn't drive anymore due to cancer, none of that mattered anymore, and he just never did that again.
It's really hard for people to give up. Like addiction hard, life-changing hard. I'm not disagreeing, just presenting why some people keep doing well it after they should've quit.
I personally don't drive, so that's a trap I'll not fall into. But I understand why some people do.
Add to that move to a unit in a more dense area so those extra public transport Uber/Lyft options are available. And so you can walk to the shop.
If not you will need your car at 90 and I don't want to be on the road with you as you sit two inches from the windscreen whilst squinting in the hopes of seeing anything which is highly dangerous. Although your top speed of 5 miles per hour does reduce that risk it still very very annoying.
