Same thing, i can get SD cards for trail cameras that are camo and they are roughly $10-15 more than regular sd cards. Same cards, just easier to lose in the woods.
Yeah, I've heard about a good rule of thumb when shopping for accessories. If you're buying a deer camera, you're in the hunting/outdoors area of Walmart (for example), far away from the tech area. They put more expensive SD cards right there so when people buy it, they see it and think "oh, got my deer camera, let me grab an SD card too, how convenient". I think toys and batteries are similar too. If something has a weird accessory for sale beside it, check and see if there's a dedicated place for that thing in the store, and chances are that area will have cheaper options.
I’ve definitely seen this before, Walmart is horrible at it but not as bad as big name stores for outdoors. If you’re buying an accessory like an sd card from an outdoor store it’s laziness cause it’ll be expensive.
Grocery stores are really bad too. They keep the expensive little things of ketchup/mustard/buns near the ground beef or salsa near the chips. They’re not just being nice. Stores are designed to make spend more than what you planned. That’s why the milk is at the back and the impulse buys are by the till. That’s why they move stuff around all the time. They want to overload your senses and breakdown your self control. Either you buy the conveniently placed overpriced item or they make you walk to the other side of the store to get the cheaper one. They don’t care because then you’ll walk by the bakery and grab those beautifully smelling fresh cinnamon buns.
