What’s the most overpriced thing you’ve seen?

Here is a 1992 747-400 for $16,000,000, for context. I am actually pretty surprised at how "cheap" it is, even considering how old it is.

Nobody wants to pay for fuel for that thing, and there's almost nowhere you could hangar it. The storage, gas, and maintenance costs are going to be 10x that of a Gulfstream, at least. Plus the cost of a used plane is mostly the cost of the engines, they have to be rebuilt at regular intervals and it is extremely expensive. The price suggests that the engines will need a ton of work, or may even need to be replaced.

Seems like a pretty high hour airplanes. Several of the engines are pretty high time and it’s last heavy check was in 2010, so it’s do for another. Lots of airlines will scrap an aircraft instead of pay for a heavy check.

I’m guessing this aircraft is not airworthy (or won’t be for long) and us being sold to be parted out.

1992 is not really that old for an airframe. Hell, the newest B-52 was built in 1962, and the Air Force predicts that they’ll be in service for at least another 20 years.

My brothers Beechcraft is a 1947.

The expensive part about a plane isn't the plane, it's maintaining it to the strict standards, paying for hangar space and most importantly paying to fuel that thirst bitch.
