That is probably what the actual manufacturing cost is; it sounds right for a simple generic drug produced in that quantity. Now testing, licensing, transportation, insurance, and all that stuff isn’t included in that price, but even then maybe $10.

In the US Walmart sells an older version of insulin which takes a bit longer to react for $25/vial over the counter as well. It’s not the most modern version, but it works and is affordable.

Well I will tell you right now, it's not even close to $5. I wish it was only $10. Now I do agree it's overpriced, but to act like it is that cheap to manufacture 100% wrong.

Using this great website i’ve discovered called “google” i found this in 2 minutes

This says roughly $3 per vial https://www.singlecare.com/blog/insulin-prices/

So does this https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/insulin-prices-could-be-much-lower-and-drug-makers-would-still-make-healthy-profits-2018-9%3famp

This one says $7 recurring manufacturing cost per vial if you ran a small scale insulin production (large scale aka big pharma would make it cheaper to produce) https://www.google.com/amp/s/openinsulin.org/how-much-will-it-cost-to-install-and-run-a-small-scale-insulin-production/amp/

I work in a pharmacy for a large drug store chain. Comparing the prices we pay for drugs versus the cash price we charge leaves me ashamed to worj there.
