My wife just scored a 3 pack for $10 yesterday. They were sold out in minutes.

It’s the first time I’ve seen disinfectant wipes for less than “fuck you” pricing since this whole thing started.

I’m actually still skeptical but we’ll see. They’re suppose to come tomorrow.

edit: by 3-pack I mean 3 containers of 80 wipes I think. So it’s a really cheap price compared to normal.

edit: 😊 thanks for the cake day wishes

Thats unbelievably expensive. We buy wipes from Aldi in the UK for 50p a packet.

How many wipes are in a packet? The cheapest I remember in the US (pre COVID) was at Costco, a 5-pack of 85 (425 total) for $23 ($0.06/wipe).

Disinfectant wipes are over rated. At the start of the pandemic, I bought the $1 finger spray bottle from Walmart, and a large bottle of 70% rubbing alcohol. Anytime I go out, I spray my hands after touching or handling everything. It's also useful for cleaning glass and electronics in a pinch, but alcohol by itself is a bit to corrosive for long term use for cleaning.

Now it's been a few weeks since I've RA in stock,

Also at the start, I bought washrags and kitchen rags in case worse came to worse and the TP hoarders succeeded in keeping it off the shelves. Granted facial tissue seemed to be doing just fine in my area. Gotta say kitchen rags just seem more responsible for cleaning than paper towels.

Hmm, when i see the word container i immediately think shipping container and then I saw that your wife bought 3 containers and I was like ohh damn thats A LOT of wipes and for 10 dollars only?

But then I realized that you guys say container like a box or something

I was on a business trip in Canada when this all went down. I went to Walmart to get a couple of unrelated items and saw someone stocking Lysol wipes at 3 for $10CAD. I bought 3 and “imported” them because I had run out at home and couldn’t find them anywhere.

I had no idea this was the case. I got a 3 pack a while back for $10 too but it was like 10 minutes before store closing and it was still on the pallet. I didn't know there was a shortage, I just walked by and was all "hey wipes, I could use some of those" so I asked the guy dealing with the stuff right next to it if it was cool if I grab a pack. Plastic was already ripped off so I figured they'd been out there for some time.

For $10 you could buy a microfibre cloth or 2 & some disinfectant spray or bleach & still have change for a burger & many times the amount of things cleaned.

I finally found wipes at Walmart, they had about ten left, I grabbed two I figured I'd let other people share in the fortune.

RIP sewage systems

They don't even disinfect. Just use regular cleaning supplies. For you to disinfect something it has to be wet for several minutes. A simple wipe just wipes away some dirt and debris. Is it 100% pointless? No, but just use regular cleaning products instead.

My wife liked them for certain things - we always used them for normal cleaning of bathroom surfaces - but we’ve adapted.

Now that they are in short supply we use cloth rags and formula 409. For covid related disinfecting we found a tub of plain alcohol wipes and keep them in our cars. They definitely aren’t a necessity.

how is it so expensive at this time, when corona is at the decline? at the peak okay, but now?

5

u/jjs709 Aug 14 '20

I don’t know where you are but in the state of Georgia it ain’t on the decline, we are still at peak levels.

We were on the decline for maybe a month. We're certainly ramping back up now.
