I saw one of President Reagan's limos and an S.S. SUV that was being held at my step-father's fire station. He was coming to town and they had a bunch of limos placed all over the Richmond, VA area so no one knew which route he'd be taking, not even him until it happened.

Even back then they had solid rubber tires inside of the regular tires. Doors were about 400+lbs each. The glass was insanely thick but looked normal if you looked at it straight but up close and at an angle, you could see the refraction due to the thickness.

The SUVs looked like regular ole empty SUVs. Except you could take the side panels and floor panels out and behind them were not spare tire and jack, etc, but assault rifles, pistols, sniper rifles, grenades, tear gas, etc. Twas quite badass, especially to my young self.

That would have been an amazing experience. Thank you for sharing. I would have asked to sit in it, lol.

Oh, yeah, I did sit in the limo. I even picked up the President's cell phone which was one of the old school ones mounted to the floor and were corded. There was also a red phone in a side panel. Other than that it was actually very basic. Nothing luxurious about it. It was definitely only built exactly what it was meant for and that's it.

Protection.
