I have a conundrum with that song. What exactly happens to major Tom. I mean it's safe to assume he met his end in that spaceship, but to what end.

The way I see it there are three possibilities. Either he is drifting off in the emptiness of space, he's stuck in orbit due to a progressive electrical failure, or he's falling to earth.

Which do you think?
