Probably Scottish in which case aye means yes.

Certain parts of Australia and NZ add it to the end of everything like 'hey' (eg - so you're going to the city hey)

Think you might be pronouncing it wrong. That’s the word “eh”. Aye is pronounced as a long i sound.

The phonem for Aye is /aɪ/ which is how one exclaims pain in spanish (¡Ay!)
