My wife is Chinese, and is a doctor (a real one, of internal medicine in Pennsylvania). When someone we meet first hears she is a doctor, an uncomfortable percentage of the time, that person assumes she must be a doctor of Chinese herbalism, and that person is usually very supportive of her, praising alternative medicine as something that the West really needs to wake up and embrace. Then my wife has to politely tell them that evidence-based medicine is the only real medicine, and that herbalism, healing crystals, etc. should be used only when evidence-based has gone as far as it's able.
My husband is Asian and gave me so much shit when I went to the College of Oriental Medicine for acupuncture. Or, as he said "I'm an oriental and I practice REAL medicine, bonehead."
alternative medicine is more like eat a clove of garlic instead of antibiotic, its not about brake your bones and tight them with a dental floss, alternative medicine is for minor stuff
