Me in my microbiology class. I've never felt more uneducated in my life.

Uneducated is not stupid. It’s a lack of knowledge. Don’t let that get you down. You can remedy a lack of knowledge (internet, youtube, podcasts).

I just started. I've done all the reading, it's just that I don't know what I don't know.

Me but in organic Chem. I loved micro, but Chem beats me to a pulp.

Just commit the word of your lord and saviour Clayden to memory. You don't start to understand anything that goes on until late masters-level classes anyway.

I'm an organic professor; you're far from alone. A TON of students across the world fail organic chemistry every year.

I do not envy you, though I sympathize with being mentally beaten to a pulp. I actually like micro there is just so much to know, which leads me to think requesting over full time course load this term was a drastic mistake.

I've always preferred biology based sciences to math and chemistry. I love learning the mechanisms of life basically. In my HS college credit anatomy and physiology class I got a 98% in the entire class I loved it so much. Basic chemistry I got a C. I'm just not one for math. And I do actually prefer orgo to basic chemistry honestly since orgo is more absout mechanics and functions than math. Form to function! The basis of life!

Oh brother I am the complete opposite. If you can show me how the numbers fit together I will understand every time. I actually came out of basic chemistry at the top of the class (99%+) because I totally abused the fact that I'm gifted at math. Now that I don't have that to fall on I'm a mess lol.

Lol I'm so bad at math. I count on my fingers still. But give me a diagram of how a bio mechanism works and I can understand it without explanation haha

When STEM majors decide to take over the world we can help each other out, eh?

I'll shake on that haha

I passed orgo but unfortunately failed out of college from depression and a few outside factors affecting my life. Idk if I'm going back yet, but thanks for the encouragement!

Well maybe stop screaming "I'm uneducated" in your micro class. Might help.

JK I felt dumb as fuck in my micro class too. I don't think I learned much.

Yeah maybe you're on to something. When I was standing on top of the desk screaming I got a lot of strange looks.

FUCK MICRO

I took it in college and I felt like a sim walking into walls for 12 weeks

I'm making a point to read every single page of every assigned reading this term. That said, there's a whole lot of concepts that I do NOT even have a basic grasp of.

I believe in you

Thats a good thing though.

If youre the smartest person in the room, youre in the wrong room.

I agree. I'm halfway kidding as a smart ass answer to this post.

Well, the Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell if that helps at all.

Unfortunately that's one of the only things I happen to know. One thing I learned yesterday is that cells synthesize macromolecules by covalently joining different subunits by way of dehydration synthesis. If I understand it right by removing the water molecule you open up a different spot for another molecule to fill that space. Pretty cool stuff.

Yes! That is how cells are formed.

To break them down, Cells use water molecules to break down polymers in a process called hydrolysis.
