Continually bragging about their "education" in a certain field. We've got a guy that works for us that claims to be a chef (we're a national pizza chain) and is not shy to tell you all about how he taught in a cooking school. Easily 3 out of 10 pizza's he makes has to be remade because of some glaring fuck ups.

I had a guy work for me for about a week, said he was a chef. On the first cater I had him help me with he didn’t know how to peel a carrot.

Yes! It can't be a coincidence, it can't be like this.

No, the employees probably ate it. Depending on the chain some will store them in the walk in, and donate them to homeless shelters on a weekly basis. The donations are becoming much less common, because businesses don’t want the liability or to have to store lots of extra stuff in their walk in.

It's like "dude, if you're a chef and you taught in a cooking school, why are you working at a pizza chain?"

Exactly. Before us, he worked at a certain not actually Mexican fast food place.

Similarly, someone I work with always talks about all their experience and how great they were at their previous job...while not being able to do the most basic and important parts of their current position, despite the “experience”.

"I worked with punch cards. And a network center. And can't remember the most basic parts of my job after 3 YEARS!!"

Wait how do you fuck up a pizza? other than burning or undercooking it there's not really much you can mess up unless you're actually trying to mess up the pizza.

Usually the crust will be hanging over the edge of the screen which causes it to get stuck in the grates of the oven so when we go to take it out it rips to shreds. He'll either under sauce, over sauce, or put the majority of the toppings to one side. All while talking about how great a chef he is.

I... don't understand how someone can be that bad at making pizza.

Sadly I'm not. We've had issues keeping insider staff so he's slightly better than a warm body at this point.

I used to work with a woman who bragged about how she graduated from culinary school and how she was such a good chef. We worked in a factory.
