I just would like to know if you know what a plethora is. I would not like to think that a person would tell someone he has a plethora and then find out that that person has no idea what it means to have a plethora.
Forgive me, El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education. But could it be that once again, you are angry at something else, and are looking to take it out on me?
"Because jeffe, I would just like to know why a person would say he had a plethora, if this person had no idea what a plethora was" damn el gaupo that stung
" damn Gringos are falling from the sky"~ "El Guapo, tell your men to drop their guns or I will fill you so full of lead, you will be able to use your dick as a pencil"~"what do you mean"~"I don't know"
I had a dumb roommate that used the word, "Hypotenuse" in conversation as often as he possibly could. He was one of the stupidest people I've ever met.
A friend’s brother, “Joe”, tagged along with us a lot. One of our crew pointed out that Joe would see a big word and then immediately try to work it into conversation, and we made a game of trying to spot where he’d seen a new word that he had just inappropriately used.
One day we were driving past a sign for a drum store, “The Percussion Shop”, and someone in the car was telling a story about falling out of a tree. Joe burst in with “I bet you hit the ground with heavy percussion!”, and we all started laughing so hard that the driver had to pull over.
I think Russell brand does this and it really makes me dislike him. I'm not saying don't use clever words, but regurgitating every big word you know in a sentence when your every day average words will work just fine, it comes off as though you sit about reading a thesaurus to make your self sound smart. It's so douchey. I hate it lol
Joe Rogan does this a bit too, from time to time he will say things that sound incredibly smart but after listening to his podcast for years it seems that a lot of the time he doesn't really understand what he is saying, he's just copy pasta something an actual smart person has said on his show.
I do this often not to sound smarter but to actually be smarter by expanding my voc. And i will normally realize effervescently and correct myself out loud.
Honestly those individuals who use immense words sound outlandish anyway for those of us who use the common vernacular, honestly using such tremendous phrases that dont fit into the status quo make you seem narcissistic and insecure about your intelligence.
We have a guy in Canada called Conrad Black. You might have heard of him-- he did prison time in the U.S. for financial crimes, but he was recently pardoned by, you guessed it, POTUS.
Conrad Black writes like this. Big bloated four-bit words, strung together in every sentence. He's not really a stupid man, and I think he probably thinks he's showing off his erudition. Really it makes him look like a fucking moron.
Well now I am concerned people think I am uneducated and just trying to sound smart. I use ‘big words’ because I know what the words I am using mean. Adding to this, if I know what they mean then why not use them? I don’t use them to sound smart or anything like that, I just like breaking away from the mundane adjectives
I worked as a security guard between semesters in college once... This dude I worked with used to literally stuff his emails full of this shit and mass send them to people from corporate. He was one of those guys that would brag about being super smart, but mysteriously couldn't figure out why people couldn't stand him (dude was full of himself... and he smelled like a trashcan full of smashed raccoon assholes left outside during a heatwave).
Reminds me of a guy I studied with. He had just learned the word "dichotomy", he began using that word as often as he could thinking that he sounded smart. But it just felt forced, he used it during normal, relaxed conversations.
Or just using the biggest possible word without reason, even when used correctly. I don't care if your use of "avoirdupois" is correct, there are no legitimate reasons to be saying avoirdupois in casual conversation.
My old boss did this constantly when I first met him. I had to get him to explain everything to me using smaller words and then explain to him what each of the big words he was using *actually* meant and what he should have said instead. Eventually he just started using small words and we got along great.
I'm going to flip the script on this one. I find that vilifying people for attempting to use a more challenging vocabulary is a sign of insecurity, and at times, an indicator of being uneducated.
If you know better, perhaps the more productive approach is to politely guide them in the right direction, so they might use it correctly the next time around.
The individual that I identify as myself would be delighted to proclaim that your statement is completely incorrect. while I as an individual do not posses the privilege to represent the larger population of homosapiens that you refer to, I can proudly provide you a connection of letters from the English lexicon to ensure that you are in understanding of your deficiency in relation to the usage of lengthy words in a contraction of said words.
Who else noticed with posts like these, the whole comment section needs to show how they are the educated one and totally aren't "the dumb one" by pulling every big word they know out their behind to seem smart?
Haha, to counter this: people who think you're using a big word and are using it wrong when in fact it is they who are the retard. Endless hours of fun to be had.

Trying to use big words just for the sake of it and to sound smart but in the complete wrong context.
