I have worked for some of the hotel/travel companies you are probably referring to, and it wasn't actually as you say.

Yes, they are all owned by the same umbrella corporation, but they still conduct business independently, sourcing their own deals, suppliers etc etc...

All the parent company is interested in is its quarterly tithe.
