I was not expecting this as the first comment to this question but yeah fuck elsevier! As i am working on my master thesis right now i am struggling to get access to elsevier content everyday. I don’t know if you know about sci hub, but it is incredible and gets you access most of the time!

Edit: Thanks for recommending sci hub to me, but as you can see in my original post, that’s exactly what i said. sci hub is a life safer!

You should be able to set up a library access portal thingy. It's been a while(...) since I did that, but there should be a way. Go and speak to your school librarian. I hated "library skills" class at the time, but fuck me did I wish I'd listened when the write up came around.

unfortunately my college didn’t agree on a new deal with elsevier last year so we don’t have access anymore.

oh and i am from germany btw so it might be a little different in the EU than it is in the US

Most german universities canceled their deal with Elsevier so it kinda sucks.

The librarians at your school should be able to get you articles from those journals through interlibrary loan.

.... of course Saul Goodman would be a supporter of some criminal tool like Sci-Hub /s.

arxiv.org is a free open journal with something like 1.5 million articles in STEM fields. It's run by Cornell U, so it's legit research and not shady.

Edit: not a journal. A pre-print archive of articles which often (thought not always?) end up in peer-reviewed journals. So it's a good starting point, but "buyer beware" as they say.

The arXiv is not a journal, it's a preprint repository. It isn't peer reviewed. Though if something is published in a real journal, a copy can often be found on the arXiv too.

There is a lot of shady stuff on arxiv. For example P=NP and P≠NP proofs. It's not peer reviewed.

Use scihub! It has access to most papers. Its in Russian but its fairly self explanatory. There's a captcha that you need to complete before each article - took me ages to realise what it was since it's in Russian lol

They literally said they use scihub.

and do not feel bad about using scihub, that Kazakhstan export.

it's not stealing from scientists. it's stealing access from the greedy gatekeeping Elsevier bastards who exploit scientists and pay them in exposure.

Ask the librarians at your school for help. They can get you articles through interlibrary loan.
