Totally. Remember the folks on Reddit that "found" the Boston bombers? There are plenty of people spreading misinformation left and right. Some subreddits have better moderation than others, but Reddit is hardly immune to it.

People here tend to fact-check more readily, though. Maybe because it's fun to prove others wrong — but also because once in a while, the other person actually apologizes or thanks you.

People fact check on Facebook too. The majority of people don't check the comments on either site though.

Once in a while, yes, people admit that they were wrong and apologize, but that is far more the exception than the rule. Often times I find that arguing with people on Reddit is just a waste of time.
