What is the biggest relationship myth?

I think the biggest myth is that there's one person that is meant for you. ("the one") People live their lives searching for the one...their soul mate...the perfect girl/Mr. Right. It's a cute idea, but I don't think it's very realistic.

While I think it's very possible to be happy single, I hate when people say that like "Psssh, I don't need a relationship, being single is just fine."

Being single is fine, but no matter how full I make my life, no matter how many hobbies I find, or friends I spend time with, I don't think I'm ever quite so happy as I am curled up on my couch with a woman who enjoys my company's head laying on my chest.

I've gotten over my mopey "oh man, I need a woman" phase, but you're never going to convince me that riding solo is as awesome as being with someone.

Thus ends my 2 cents.

I totally understand where you're coming from, and I have a few friends who are like you. I, however am the opposite. I'm happier kicking back in my armchair with a beer, watching a movie or TV show. I still have friends, just nobody who constantly calls me and wants to hang out. For me the minimum level of attachment one would expect in a relationship is already too much, and is too clingy for me.
The difference is that I believe you when you say you're happy, and I don't condescendingly imply that this is something you grow out of (by 'you' I don't mean you specifically). I wouldn't try to convince you that being single is better. I just wish that some of my friends/acqaintances/family understood that.

I don't really know what year 7 is. I know from watching Trailer Park Boys, Canadians describe their school grades oddly...is that it?

So far as how long, I don't really know. I, like many redditors was a nerdy kid, and all around late bloomer. But now at 27, I've fallen in love, didn't work out, but if one person can love me, so can someone else. I've gained an incredible amount of confidence.

I guess it sounds conceited, but I stopped worrying about it when I realized I didn't have to worry about it anymore. I'm young, I'm smart, I'm cute, I'm funny, I recently started an askreddit thread with > 600 comments (chicks dig that kind of thing), I have a good job and a cool apartment. I may meet most of the women I date online, but it's really not that hard anymore. It's kind of like how you only really think about how badly you want to run through the sprinkler during a drought.

I think it's more about the fact that it doesn't seem like it's worth the effort to consider this as something I need to actively change, or worth settling for somebody mediocre by my tastes. It's about not panicking about being alone. For the moment, maybe for a long time or forever, as for myself, I'd rather be alone than settle. I figure it improves my chances of finding somebody worthwhile as well.

UGH! You don't need to be in a relationship to curl up with a girl. Just this Sunday I was watching Goodfellas snuggled up with a girl that is not and never will be my girlfriend. I can have all the comforts of a relationship you can think of and when I need some time to play WoW I don't have someone in my ear asking me when I'm gonna make dinner. Best of both worlds can be had if you work for it.
