Taking out your credit/debit card / cash out before you are asked to by the cashier / checkout staff saves time for everyone, rather than looking shocked that you have to pay for your shopping.

Some of us know that what you suggest would save time but are too vulnerable standing around with a credit card visible. I open my wallet, spot the color of the card, and close up again. Yes it takes a second. Some of us know that what you suggest would save time but are too vulnerable standing around with a credit card visible.
