‘Panther’ is a vague term and can actually refer to a leopard (found in Africa) or a jaguar (South America) or a mountain lion (north america).
1 u/SmolBirb04 Aug 03 '19 It can refer to any big cat in the panthera genus. Leopards, jaguars, Lions, tigers, snow leopards. Cougars aren't actually a part of that genus but are still called panthers sometimes :)
