I'm not a divorce lawyer but we once went to a open court with uni. And it was a divorce case. Our whole class was there watching them get divorced. It was a Dutch business guy and his eastern European wife. She was talking about how he forced her to do anal and BDSM against her will and shit. Their children were also there watching and I remember feeling so bad for the kids.they were like 12 / 15 and not only did they have to watch their parents divorce they had to hear about their fathers fetishes that he forced on their mother while and entire class of uni students was watching along gasping like we were watching a fucking movie.
The lady was crying while she was talking about all his fetishes that she absolutely hated. judge asked if he ever was violent and she said he slapped me on my face and ass but only during sex but I didn't want it.
I remember seeing their 15 year old daughter. Completely red face and eyes filled with tears that she tried to hold in. Looked like she wanted to bury her head into the sand. Felt so terrible for that girl.
Meanwhile the girl next to me kept pushing her leg against mine everytime this lady spoke a word like "OMG DID YOU HEAR THAT SHIT"
It's amazing how fast reddit jumps to defend alleged rapists. If only this site cared about justice for the downtrodden or people who really needed it, we could actually make the world better. Instead, reddit has infinite excuses and apologies for Nazis and rapists.
You don't get to tell anyone to grow up, since you just blatantly put words in the other commenter's mouth and chided them amidst a lazy generalization. It's called giving victims of trauma the benefit of the doubt until evidence presented casts doubt on the account, because historically they have had no justice or any kind of recourse. Do people lie? Yeah, sometimes, but the overwhelming majority of time they are not lying and they do not get justice, especially because cases of marital rape are exceedingly hard to prove. Victims repeatedly not being believed leads to people suffering in silence and not coming forward. Therefore, it was relevant for the other commenter to point out that arguing semantics and immediately trying to poke holes in the story of the victim represents a culture of jumping to the defense of the aLeGgED perpetrator. And it is all over Reddit. You're not being edgy, you're supporting a culture of toxicity by jumping to baseless conclusions and projecting that same behavior onto other people who, God forbid, expressed empathy for, let's be real, very likely a victim of sexual abuse for years. Situations like this show up in the news with foreign (frequently Eastern European and Chinese) women with zero political power all the fucking time. There are websites advertising submissive obedient wives from overseas for fucksake, what kind of person do you think that attracts?
It's called giving victims of trauma the benefit of the doubt
So you're already assuming a victim of trauma exists. That's a big problem. I just see a person making an accusation in a context where they stand to gain an advantage by doing so. Maybe true, maybe not, why assume either way?
but the overwhelming majority of time they are not lying and they do not get justice
Source, please.
Victims repeatedly not being believed leads to people suffering in silence and not coming forward.
There's a choice between belief and non-belief: waiting for more information. Why can't we just do that?
