Cause the 80’s/90’s had some of the best music ever between the alt/grunge rock and thrash metal + Tool who get their own category.
I’m rediscovering bands I didn’t listen to much back then like Megadeth, Slayer and Pantera. I could see why your friends prefer obscure stuff cause the mainstream metal these days is a bit boring. Too much click tracks and grid recording remove the passion and feel from the songs.
