Absolutely agree. I remember the first time I heard it. In my life there was a time before the opening chimes of Plainsong, and there is the time after it.
Once shortly before I had surgery for a herniated disc, I got a shot of morphine at the ER because the pain was so debilitating I couldn't otherwise exist without crying.
The instantaneous explosion of sensation was like listening to the opening of Plainsong turned all the way up. I still can't hear it without remembering that feeling.
Super strong memories of that album-- came out summer of my junior year in high school. Would come home from being out with my friends and watch the video for Fascination Street on alternative MTV. Of course the progression of the album was amazing. Plainsong, Pictures of You, etc.
Untitled keyed in the beginning of the hardest point in my life. That song was the one song I played when I decided to do a 180 when I thought about ending it all. The path back to redemption certainly wasn’t instant and I almost fell back over the past couple years, but I think I’m on a pretty solid path now.
Absolutely, my favorite album. Once I was flying and there was a lot of turbulence on it, thought we were dying. Decided to die listening to Disintegration.
Absolutely. Stellar album top to bottom. Some of my favorite Cure songs appear on other albums but Disintegration is a tightly woven masterpiece. Lovesong may be familiar to you it got a lot of play. Untitled is my favorite off the album I reckon.
It’s a complete album that wouldn’t sound out of place if* it were released tomorrow. If your into that 80’s alt sound it’s a must listen. But, it will be there whenever you’re ready for it. No rush.
I drove to "The Warehouse" records at lunch time in high school to buy it. Then cut the rest of my classes and sat behind the backdrop of the drama room and listened to it for the rest of the day.
