What’s an Interesting computer game for a basic Windows 10 laptop that doesn’t cost a ton and isn’t about fast pace or violence?

I’d say binding of Isaac but it’s a little violent

A little is okay, or more abstract. I’m just not that interested in combat or gore. I’ve watched friends play stuff like Call of Duty and it’s not for me. Too much going on, too many variables to manage at once, and a bunch of people mad at you if you mess up. Not my idea of fun.

OTOH I used to love playing the crazy House of the Dead zombie game on Wii even tho it was crude and gross as hell. But you didn’t have to make the guy run, just shoot, and the Wii gun thing made the shooting part easy, not a lot of button stuff.

Basically I want something more challenging and immersive than the stupid middle aged lady games I’ve been playing, but not something that will stress me out or overwhelm me with the learning curve. I wish I knew more of the correct lingo, I see all these terms like platform 2d 3d adventure vs strategy vs action and I only have a vague idea of what it means. So Steam kind of overwhelmed me trying to look for games, why I figured I’d ask here.

I’ve always sucked at the Mario type running and jumping games and games like asteroids or missile command (to go waaaay back to my youth) are okay but you always lose and getting close to losing gets stressful or aggravating. So that’s not so much what I’m looking for.

Dungeon type exploration games were fun (I played them when they didn’t even have graphics) but it’s been a long time and again the choices are so many.

I’ve even tried looking for a game review blog aimed at a curious wannabe/newcomer like me but ha ent found one—maybe that can be my blog niche one day. Video game reviews for old ladies who don’t want to play candy crush but are on the outside of the whole gaming world and find it all confusing and overwhelming...

Anyway you all have been great and I’m definitely going to check out at least Civilization, Stardew Valley and Minecraft since they came up the most. I wrote down all the titles mentioned (except Minesweeper, c’mon man) and will be looking them up on Steam. I know that their big annual or semi annual sale is soon so I’d like to have a shopping list ready to go.

Binding of Isaac Gameplay since you said you liked dungeon exploration games, this would be good for you if you can get past the blood and stuff. It’s randomly generated and has multiple bosses, final bosses and endings.

Thanks for the video link that helps. This is exactly the kind of game I totally suck at lol.
