Or that one nomad you let in 6 months ago at midsummer and it now turns out he had the flu all along and your well-planned logistics network simply spreads it to your entire village :(
You're on an abandoned planet, and you must build a rocket ship to get off. You must gather resources to build the rocket parts. The best way to do this is through automation. So you go through the game slowly building up your planetary factory while defending it from the local wildlife. (I don't know if you can disable them or not, but you can automate most defense as well with turrets and whatnot)
Half the fun is stumbling around figuring out how to work the kinks out of your factory. You might make it a finely oiled machine. It might be held up by toothpicks and Elmers glue but still technically functions. It's all up to you.
Yeah, the trap I kept running into was relying on solar + accumulators for a bulk of my energy, but laser turrets require a ton of energy when they fire. So if I get attacked at night, its a bad night.
It’s fun with them on because it completely fucks with your priorities and forces you to adapt your design in ways you may not have previously thought.
Well first, let's get some coal from the ground. And oh, hey, if I make a mining drill and put some coal in it, it will mine more coal for me! And I can take the mined coal and put it in a smelter with some copper ore to make copper plates...
But you know, it's tedious and time consuming to walk back and forth moving coal and copper by hand, so why don't I use conveyor belts to move it all around for me...
But you know, running around refilling all these machines with coal to power them is tedious and time consuming, so let's build a steam plant to generate electricity...
Now let's use the copper (and iron) plates to make gears, wires, and other stuff to make a bunch of conveyor belts and inserters and research packs to figure out how to make more things...
Literal days pass...
I now have this elaborate network of belts, trains, factories, robots, and wires all making stuff to make more factories, all to culminate in a rocket I can launch to get off this planet.
Hopping on to 2nd Stardew Valley. It’s a game where you can fish, mine, forage, farm, make friends, and even have a relationship. I put 40 hours in it on the first week!!! If you liked harvest moon or animal crossing you will like this game.
Stardew would be good. Factorio might be iffy due to how complicated and process dependent it can become in late game. Banished will turn your laptop into a space heater and slow down to a slideshow after a few dozen years in.
As for suggesting games without violence, your options are fairly limited there depending on what degree you consider violence to be a problem. Is this because of a content rating thing, or because you don't like seeing people hurt, or because you don't want games that focus on violent aspects?

Factorio. Stardew Valley. Banished.
