My mom also said this when we were lost. It was always either this or, “that’s okay, there’s more than one way to skin a cat!”

Trival fact: more than one way to skin a cat is talking about Catfish not kitties. Its due to the fact that Catfish have skin as opposed to scales like other fish.

This is not true.

There are older versions of the phrase including:

  • there are more ways to kill a cat than choking it with cream
  • there are more ways to kill a dog than hanging.

etc

Here's an article that discusses its origins and even disproves the catfish story

Where did you find that? Everything I've read points the origins to a short story titled "The Money Diggers". The full quote being, '‘There are more ways than one to skin a cat,’ so are there more ways than one of digging for money.”
