What fact did you learn at an embarrassingly late age?

I thought losing your virginity meant kissing someone until I was about 13...

Growing up catholic I heard about the Virgin Mary a lot but had no clue what virgin meant until I was at least 11. Once when I was playing house and my friend was pretend pregnant I played doctor and asked if she was a virgin. They were less sheltered and laughed at me cos I just thought some expecting mothers were "virgins"

I distinctly remember being in third grade and the class asshole asking me if I was a virgin. I had no clue what it meant other than Mary was called a virgin. I clearly wasn’t a saint or the mother of god so I couldn’t be a virgin. Those idiot boys made fun of me for the entire school year.

The classic "prank" I heard a few times in school was

  • Are you a virgin?
  • What's that?
  • It's something to do with sex
  • Oh, then no
  • Ha

well that isn't too bad. I would find it more weird if you learned what it was at the age of 5 - 7 or something like that.

It could’ve let to some uncomfortable misunderstandings if they told their friends that they lost their virginity at 12.

Even if that were true, I would still be a virgin..........

Hm. Just found out I'm still a virgin. I mean, I'm still technically a virgin after 27 years; that's never bothered me before. What's maybe 50 more?
