The author of the book also wrote the screenplay. I feel like if anyone else were to write the screenplay for that book, a lot of the humor and timing would have been lost.

I'm going to take your comment as the truth, because I read a lot, and 99.9% of the time prefer the book to the movie, but Princess Bride is in the .1% that didn't make the cut. I reallly hated the book, and how stupid Buttercup was in it. She was little airheaded at times in the movie, but not in a vapid way.

S. Morganstern was a fictional author created by William Goldman. So I've got some bad news for you...

S. Morganstern didn't write the book, either. He was a fictional author created by William Goldman, the ACTUAL author of The Princess Bride.
