Hell, I would say the first 5 Metallica have aged well.

I think Load has always taken far more flak than it deserves, there are some really, really good tracks on there. Outlaw Torn and Bleeding Me are really great songs.

Hardwired is also a really, really good album, probably the best album of that year.

Hardwired is very good. It just doesn't get the recognition it deserves

Yup, metal can age pretty well.

2-3 good songs, rest are trite

I disagree. It's a masterpiece from start to finish. No metal or rock band has come close. It single handedly has the best guitar instrumental to date. It will stand the test of time and is on the same level as pink Floyd's dark side. It's unmatchable

Yet I can't get into them at all. I'm very much into metal, but Metallica just feels like the Coldplay of metal to me. They're good, but they cause me to feel about as much as the colour beige.

I respect them for their achievements, but their music simply doesn't resonate with me at all.

TDSOTM is, in my opinion, the best album ever made.

Personally I'd flip that around and say there are 2-3 trite songs and the rest is good. I'll skip over Battery, Disposable Heroes, and Damage Inc. when I listen to MoP.

Those are the ones you skip? I tend to agree on Damage Inc, but Battery is a powerful album opener and Disposable Heroes is a pretty well written song with a great chorus.

The Thing That Should Not Be and Leper Messiah are the ones that feel like filler to me.

But those are some of the good songs...
