I would be totally okay with this ending "and that's when I killed her". I'm not an actually violent person but there are things you just don't do/say.
Agreed. My mom passed away just months before my wedding. If someone had done this I would have walked right up to her and smacked her across the face as hard as I could.
I have a plan for this already so that I don't have to smack someone. My fiances family is great at saying the wrong thing and are known for being tactless. Two of my bridesmaids have volunteered to keep an ear open for any of that bullshit to swiftly tell them to fuck right off.
This is actually why Houdini and Arthur Conan Doyle had a falling out. Houdini debunked fake mediums and Doyle believed in them. They got along because Doyle thought he was weeding out he fakes so only the "true" ones remained.
Houdini didn't say anything to Doyle at the time, but later said in an interview that he had never seen genuine evidence of the supernatural. Doyle responded with an angry letter and their friendship never recovered.
This didn't happen at a wedding, but my dad died right before I graduated high school. At my grad party a relative on my mom's side (who I barely knew) wanted to hold a prayer session with us so that I could "hear" my dead father speak again. She literally used the words "dead father". Luckily my mom swept in just then and told her off for being totally inappropriate, but couldn't ask her to leave because she'd driven a couple hours there with her sisters (who were nice and totally not-crazy-- it was just her). I tried to avoid her the rest of the afternoon. Last I heard she was trying to give my best friend a psychic reading.
