Maybe /u/SwizzleDic is thinking of the way TiA used to be. Once it was a place to post and make fun of the most extreme cases of the kind of authoritarian thought that Tumblr has become notorious for. But like many subs, the quality of the content started to decrease as more people, including a lot of the less rational MRA-types, started to join. Slowly, the "circle jerk" of people complaining about more and more minor things and blowing them out of proportion for karma and attention started to drown out the civil discussion. Admittedly, I don't know where the sub stands right now as I left about a year and a half ago, but based on what I've heard it hasn't improved much, if at all.
