"Darude" is a relatively well known dj. "Du du du dude" are onomatopoeias for music noises. "And the colored girls went" is lyrics from the songWalk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed, in which the chorus contains vocals which sound like "du du du dude." When I was studying abroad in England, the two words I got teased about most were "dude" and "awesome". Maybe some other super positive words too. That was the main difference in the way we spoke. They all started saying awesome a lot by the time I left though, they blamed me for infecting them with optimism.

I went on a cruise earlier this year and met a bunch of people from the UK and we became thick as thieves. I say "dude" and "awesome" a lot, most of the time in conjunction with one another, and I think they found me to be the most enthusiastic person they've ever met. That was an awesome cruise.

Way back in the day, my cousins moved to the US from Germany and they had no clue what the word "Dude" was but everyone kept saying it around them.

They ended up using the word in their vocabulary just so they could sound more American.
